Federal Funding for Kentucky's Coal Communities: EDA Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance

Kentucky ranks among the states best positioned to compete for the U.S. Economic Development Administration's (EDA) Assistance to Coal Communities funding, and the opportunity is open now on a rolling basis with no fixed application deadline.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development (CED), U.S. Economic Development Administration, and Grant Ready Kentucky, invite local leaders, community builders, and regional partners to a specialized working session on how to turn these federal resources into lasting local impact.

Event Details

What We Will Cover

Join our working session to get a granular breakdown of how to put this funding to use:

  • What EDA’s two core programs fund, and how they fit your development goals.
  • How coal-impacted communities qualify through the Assistance to Coal Communities (ACC) pathway—and what that pathway means for your local match requirements (including pairing with the Kentucky G.R.A.N.T. Program).
  • Walk through how EDA reviews and scores applications.
  • Common barriers rural applicants run into alongside practical, proven workarounds.
  • Real-world examples of recent Kentucky awards spanning a range of project sizes
