Ruthie Caldwell is the owner of Vision Granted, LLC where she serves as a grant writer, project manager, facilitator, and bureaucracy navigator for organizations in Kentucky and Central Appalachia. She specializes in helping organizations new to grant writing gain resources and build their abilities to apply for small grants first and then build up to larger grants. Since the pandemic began, Ruthie has helped dozens of organizations of all sizes gain a total of over $6M in grant funding. Sponsors include: AML, ARC, EDA, FCC, HRSA, KY Justice & Public Safety, NEA, NEH, USDA, USDOL, and private foundations and corporations.
Originally from Texas, Ruthie moved to eastern Kentucky 5 years ago and fell in love with the people and place. As a certified Project Manager with a master’s in Communication, she has led dozens of diverse teams in strategic planning, managing projects, grant writing, and developing technical reports. She is a 2019 graduate from Leadership Kentucky’s BRIGHT Kentucky program, and currently serves as a Steering Committee member for the grassroots network What’s Next EKY?! and a Fellow for Accelerate Kentucky. Ruthie and her husband Tim have four kids ages 4-10. Together they enjoy traveling, growing and making tasty food.
Ruthie specializes in helping small rural nonprofits, municipal governments, and broadband providers. Primary topics include: economic and workforce development, downtown revitalization, broadband, agriculture, tourism, addiction recovery, healthcare, entrepreneurship, arts and culture, and education.
