Sarah Diamond Burroway

Sarah Diamond Burroway, MFA, MS, is a grants and development leader with a career record of securing and managing more than $67 million in public and private awards. Her work spans higher education, workforce and economic development, public and mental health, community transformation, and social entrepreneurship.

Across her career, Sarah has worked in nonprofit, private sector, and consulting roles in partnership with community-based organizations, including those in working in rural, historically-underserved, and Tribal contexts. She is known for her collaborative approach, strategic insight, and commitment to relationship-based philanthropy. She is an expert at complex multi-partner project development and competitive landscape analyses.

Sarah brings deep expertise in grant strategy, proposal development, and post-award management, with experience across federal, state, and philanthropic grants. Her leadership of complex funding portfolios, data-informed prospect pipelines, and compelling, evidence-based narratives has supported her employers and clients in aligning mission-driven impacts with funder priorities.

A native of Eastern Kentucky, Sarah is deeply committed to Appalachian communities. She is an active writer and contributor to regional publications and initiatives focused on women’s issues, culture, health, and social change.
