Kathleen Fleck

Kathleen J Fleck specializes in helping mission-driven nonprofits win grants and corporate support through clear, funder-aligned proposals. She crafts compelling, thoughtful narratives grounded in research, translating each organization's mission, impact, and programs into a persuasive case for support. She has extensive experience with private and corporate foundations and state and local grants, with increasing experience at the federal level. Over the past four years, she has secured well over $5M in awarded grants and corporate funding for her clients by prioritizing fit over volume: targeted prospecting, funder-aligned positioning, and relationship-centered stewardship that makes proposals easy for funders to say yes to.

Today, her consulting practice serves organizations across affordable housing, recovery housing, the recovery community, substance use and opioid use disorder, women's health, children and families, youth development, and more. Current and former clients include Grant Ready Kentucky, Serenity House/The Recovery Complex, HealthyWomen.org, Habitat for Humanity Clark & Floyd Indiana, Norton Healthcare Foundation, USA Cares, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana, and Kentucky Educational Television.

What distinguishes Kathleen is a career built at the intersection of strategy and storytelling. Upon returning to her nonprofit roots, she launched her consulting practice in 2022 — bringing with her nearly a decade of experience at Humana leading digital strategy, brand communications, and multi-million dollar program budgets. Those years sharpened the skills that now make her grant narratives data-grounded, audience-aware, and compelling. She also draws on more than 15 years of nonprofit experience spanning marketing, communications, and fund development.

Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration from Sullivan University and is based in Louisville, where she brings hands-on knowledge of Kentucky's philanthropic landscape and a genuine investment in the organizations and communities she serves.
