Applications are now open for the Kentucky G.R.A.N.T. Program! One of the top barriers to federal grant funding reported by Kentucky nonprofits is meeting cash match or cost-sharing requirements. For this reason, Grant Ready Kentucky and our partners championed Kentucky House Bill 9, which passed unanimously and was signed into law on April 7, 2023. The bill created the Government Resources Accelerating Needed Transformation Program (G.R.A.N.T. Program), which established a $2 million fund to match federal grants for priority county projects and administer the program. The bill took effect on June 28, 2023, and application details are now available. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
The G.R.A.N.T. Program is administered by the Department for Local Government (DLG), and prioritizes public benefit projects in eastern and western counties that have seen significant energy job losses as defined by the Interagency Working Group (IWG). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

The GRANT Program is to be used for eligible recipients to support a local government’s non-federal match requirement when applying for a federal government grant program. Eligible recipients include a public agency (as defined in KRS 61.805) or nonprofit entity engaged in public benefit improvements to priority communities, who have or intend to apply for a federal program that requires a non-federal match.
Eastern Kentucky Counties: Bell, Breathitt, Carter, Clay, Elliott, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Wolfe
Western Kentucky Counties: Ballard, Breckenridge, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle, Crittenden, Fulton, Graves, Grayson, Hickman, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Todd, Union, Webster
